Vigneronne (2017)

Lambic - Fruit

The name Vigneronne Cantillon was given in 1987. This name reminds us that, while it belongs to the beer patrimony, the spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines. In spite of its success, the Vigneronne represents less than 5% of the total production of the Cantillon brewery. In order to obtain grapes which are as mature as possible, we buy them at the end of the season. Every year, 1000 kilos of white italian grapes are delivered at the Cantillon brewery in the beginning of October.

So gut, much balanced. Sourness is exatly of sour balance.

Nose is incredible. The lambic hasn’t quite started to shine through yet, still a bit young in my opinion!

Wat een smaakexplosie. Funky, opbouwend zuur en flink vineus. De grote hoeveelheid (over)rijpe witte druiven doen hem bijzonder goed. Lange zure droge nasmaak.

LCI. Effectivement un côté vin très présent. Funk délicat qui laisse le fruit s'exprimer, acidité assez marquée, qui assèche bien la bouche à la longue. Peu importe, le profil est superbe

White grape, apricot, lemon, gooseberry, funk, hay, leather and oak with a dry slight acidic finish. Medium body with a great balance between the vinous notes and the mustiness. Superb depth to all flavours involved. Sublime

Cheese pairing. First drink in a while... Great vinous subtle sour. Different from the recent versions with other grapes but for sure a very pleasant and balanced drink
