Frangelic Mountain Brown

Brown Ale - American

Hazelnut coffee-infused beer. The quintessential taproom "one-off" beer. Founders’ brewers created the Mountain Brown series for their taproom in Grand Rapids in 2007. It’s the 16th iteration in the series of popular brown ales and it likely won’t be the last. The singular characteristic of this beer comes from the use of hazelnut coffee in the brewing process. The beer has distinct aromatics with sweet and nutty flavors beautifully balanced.

Bottled on 12.02.19. A lot has happened since then. But this beer remained delicious!!! Mellow...not as sweet as I remember (and that's not a bad thing). Handing out candy on Halloween. Life is good!

Bottled 12/2019. I’ve been sitting on this one for quite awhile. Nutty nose. Smells like peanut butter to me. Smooth sweet and silky. Not picking up on the coffee too much. The hazelnut dominates. Nutty sweet brown ale but closer to a stout to me.

Bottled 12.02.19. Smells hazelnutty and coffee. Soft, lightly creamy foam. Very smooth mouthfeel, exceptionally easy drinking. Taste is a great mix of coffee, and hazelnut, with the brown ale only supporting flavours, not getting in the way. Lovely.

Marshmellows in the nose. Palate is dry with notes of Hazelnuts, chocolate and some tobacco/ashtray. Really nice.

Hazelnut and tobacco nose, nutty and sweet taste with coffee notes and dark caramel and a tad of marshmallow roasted over bonfire. Nice stuff.

The hazelnut on the backend is fantastic. Wanted a little more on the aroma. All in all pretty solid.

A little hazelnut but a boozy brown. Good for one or two.

Smells like roasted hazelnut coffee. Tastes like... well, roasted hazelnut coffee. For 9%, it doesn’t have a huge alcohol taste. Bitter finish. Sweet during each mouthful. Very dark amber pour with decent head. A good coffee choice when KBS is gone.

Rich, nutty, coffee/chocolatey and a bit sweet. Like most beers, I can't a whole bottle, but this tastes good.

Nut brittle on the nose with a hint of coffee roast and caramel. Medium body with little carbonation. Decent hazelnut sweetness up front reminiscent of Nutella with the malts providing a brown bread quality. Bitter coffee bite on the finish. Solid. B+

Fuld gas på hasselnød og kaffe. Kunne måske godt bruge tyngden fra en stout, men det smager sgu rigtig lækkert.
