Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2015)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Un peu passée mais très bourbon. On a tous les goûts de la KBS mais le corps en moins

Surprising amount of dark chocolate left followed up with burnt coffee notes. 3.75 w/ extra quarter for holding up well.

Definitely fading but still holding into some good qualities. Newer versions have been better though

15-3, 8yr, 2mo o. Vertical: 16-13. Much more mellow vs. 2016 rn. Muted, Creamy cocoa. Less carbonation and light on barrel notes. Notes of toasted almond coming out. Nice.

Aging has definitely impacted this one. The flavor is way less pronounced 8 years later, but you still get some of the coffee bean bitterness. Not bad.

Bourbon, dried dark fruits, small hint of coffee roast, and caramel. Not bad for an 8 year old bottle

Aged 8 years... Aging a BBA longer than 3 years has never really paid off. This was still good on the pallet but not great. Coffee, some sweet, not much barrel.

Clearing out some dark stock. Think I stashed a 7 year vertical of this. (before it became a year around offering) Time to clear it out :)

Drinking pretty old beer on a Tuesday. Last of the 2015s. Probably the last year I ever had to “hunt” for bottles of this. I moved this cross country from Ohio to Oregon, so it tastes like anxiety mixed with the sweaty trunk of a 2009 Honda Civic.

Clearing out the cellar. Waited too long on this one. Still good but should have drank this sooner.

After aging 9 years there is not much sweetness left. It's still caramelly, with a hint of bittersweet chocolate, strong but smooth.

Tobacco, smoke, chocolate, alcohol. Med to full body, creamy, tobacco back in mouth, light clean bitter finish. I'm glad I could taste an old vintage but kbs is not really something that appeals me anymore. It's rather flat but to be expected cause of age

Did a 6 year vertical over six days. 2014-2019. For me 2015 won. Probably should have tried all on the same day ... but .. "I did it myyyyyyyy way" 🎵

And that's the end. 2018 definitely wins out. Things settled, and everything balanced well. This one's is a tad old but very smooth. So I guess 3 years is the sweetest spot. This was an ordeal, thanks guys.
