Slightly grassy finish because of the high ibu. Drinks pretty easy for 11.2% Nice one to celebrate the birthday boy.

Definitely an American barleywine. Not my favorite style but this one has a very dark roasted malt profile that I’m enjoying.

Bitter, subtle malt. Harsh. Underlying sweetness. Boozy

Lots of boozy sweetness. Malty, and on the more bitter end of the spectrum. Still smooth though.

A Barleywine that could easy pass as a Black IPA. Bitter hop notes reign supreme. Totally unique for the style.

Stunning. Haven't ventured much into barleywine world. Nose of dark fruit, wet bark? Taste is so complex hard to describe. Everything from fermented plums to vanilla chicory and lots between.

Roasted malts, smoky, not getting the sweet maltiness of a barleywine, until it warmed up quite a bit.

Not a lot of hop flavor but bitterness comes thru. Very nice but high octane

6oz dark brown pour. Smells of caramel & fresh malts. Tastes of dark fruit, roasted maltiness & a hefty amount of hoppiness I wasn’t expecting. Boozy presence on back, burn included. Not being a fan of barleywines, this one is quite solid & drinkable IMO

Non barrel aged Barleywine version. My nemesis is the evil Marty Mongoose. He’s always getting under my sssscales by sssstealing my tasty lizards and trying to bite my head off. It’s very bitter and roasted with malt, burnt toast, earthy hops, and pine.

First barley wine I've had and really like it......it is Founders after all. Can't tell it's 11.2%.

2021: Wild! First taste is roasted nuts followed by this sweet, piney booziness - definitely a change up from your traditional barleywine ale. Very good!

Dark. Heavy. Creamy. Wonderful roasty / bitter chocolate taste. Maybe a hint of plum? Interesting to see how this one ages.

Interesting. Malty without the sweet, a bit bitter without a hoppy flavor. Good, but not my favorite
