120 Minute IPA (2019)

IPA - Quadruple

Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads.

Does not age perfectly. It is still an IPA, still hoppy and sweet, but notes of acidity, vinegar and bitterness are a bit too harsh. Not my cup of beer.

More like a strong ale than an IPA. It’s decent but I’m underwhelmed considering the hype, not hoppy enough.

Only got a sample. Seemed like something that would not be good for an entire pour

Pretty different than the last 3 years, but I still don’t care for it. More rounded out with less bitterness. More watery as well.

Who knew you can age IPAs? It definitely has a big, sweet, sugary balance to the hops

Amber. Effervescent when first opened. Sweet nose with ester notes and a hint of sherry. Big sweet syrupy body somewhat balanced by a big bitter finish. Bottled Aug 2019. The bottle says “Enjoy now or age for a decade or so”. This beer didn’t last!

Was so excited to finally try this. At 21 percent holy shit it’s smooth. Some almost molasses notes and a range of hop characteristics. Pretty crazy if someone can cash the whole thing by themselves.

I mean it’s pretty good, and though I know it’s going to be pretty sweet, it’s still maybe a little too sweet. But I’m also at the beach so bring it on.

Round 4 - Catch up - almost perfect but for these guys and this brew, just shy on a few levels, and not as sweet as desired especially since the last couple years we’re on the better train. Started to fade overall which was unexpected and unfortunate.

120 IBUs & 21% ABV, officially Strongest Beer I've ever tasted! Hoppy, acidic, bitter...almost like an herbal beer liqueur. Sweet caramely malts almost taste raisiney or brown sugar & drink as warming as sherry. Hops: strong orange, grapefruit & resin.

Nice to strip out that hazy stuff occasionally and get some old school sweet, highly alcoholic ipa. Bracing, but good for ya.

Not as intense or bitter as I anticipated. Reeeeally boozy double/triple/quadrupal IPA. Still some American pith and pine hop flavor.

Bottled 8/23/2019 the bottle invites you to “Enjoy now or age for a decade or so.” I should have found a fresh one for side-by-side tasting. Anyway, this is tasty, a little sweet, intensely hoppy 😎

Strong, sweet, and hoppy. The hops are muted by the strength, but it’s good. The appearance is darker IPA hues.
