Opened to celebrate Avery’s graduation. Pours like oil with trace carbonation. Rich, thicc, tobacco, hint of oxidation, some port, roast and some alcohol bite. Still on point.

Malty and boozy with remarkable amount of potent hop still at 4 years. Caramel, raisin, fig, pine, even bit of maple. More like an American Barleywine than imperial ipa for sure.

Finally. Place is awesome and pretty full already. Less raspberry and tartness than jester king and mine, but more barrel and depth.

Virtual interview beverage. Nice thick head interesting for the style. Dark malts, molasses, roasty, and bitterness balances it all well. Melding together nice after a couple years.

Dropped when carrying in and may have a cap leak so decided to open. Oak, vanilla, bourbon and a drier thinner stout than all those pastry ones out now.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021)
Opened for Avery’s acceptance to osu. Thick and rich with utopia on the nose here. Vanilla from the barrel cushions the bit of residual heat along with the finishing gravity.

Haven’t had in quite awhile so wanted to try. Still like the old labels better. Thick, roasty coffee, oats, bit of sweetness to match and oh so nice.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023)
What a day to be alive. It’s released again! Bourbon barrel stronger than last edition at least for now but otherwise a potential cure for cancer.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019)
Opening last bottle to celebrate lions on Monday night and Avery getting his first college acceptance letter. So smooth and amazing blend of barrel and adjuncts over a great base stout.

Accompanying jambalaya cooking. This is vanilla strong liquid French toast. The barrel shows up and lingers at the end. Maple represents quite a bit as well. Just need some smoked malt for the bacon addition.

Stealing dregs for this years colambic solera. Super dry and loads of initial frothy head that drops quick. Perfect blend of tart and apple, white peach, and tannins.

Utopias Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout (2020)
Thick and black without really any heat. Velvety with cognac and oaked bourbon. Bit of maple, raisin, coffee, dark fruit as well. A ton going on.

Upfront cherry tartness and bit of oak and vanilla behind it. Very smooth and a bit vinous even.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019)
Still amazing and even better melded together with a few years.

On the dry side despite some residual sweetness and hops have faded dramatically. More of an oaked English ale.

2016-17 bottle. Dry and crisp yet not thin at all. Tart and finishes with restrained funk. Wow.

Bottle Shop Series Belgian Twist
A bit sweeter version of your mom. Agave was honey like at start but finally showed up as it warmed near end of bottle.

Grassy hops and dry body with trace clean oak barrel taste.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018)
Making room to age some other stuff and figured I’d try this since it’s been about three years since the last one. It’s still too sweet but the bourbon and oak are coming together fairly well. Vanilla is still hanging around too somehow.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)
2019 bottle for a little celebration. Still amazing and all the layers blend about perfectly here.

Nice color and light sweetness to match the tart pop. Medium body and tasty.

Thx Amanda. Had to open to get thru these interviews. Cinnamon is upfront and overpowers bourbon a bit.

The extra espresso is a nice touch even when a bit more fresh like this one. Barrel notes come thru later maybe due to additional aging time or flavor.

Tastes like a margarita. Not sure where they’re hiding the gose but a dangerous beast with the 10%.

Three year old bottle - better than the one I tried fresh for sure. A bit more smooth and blended but still overly sweet from the molasses.

2 year old bottle. More of a strong barleywine with some citrus and hops added. At this point, bit of molasses sweetness with hops noticeable but behind sweetness and alcohol. Not hot or firey at this point. Nice for a vertical if you had 3 livers

Definitely espresso. Reminds me of baking espresso powder smell even. Bit of fire in there still. Not too much overpowering bourbon taste. Really btwn a 4.25 and 4.5

A post dinner, LEGO building assistant and side with a game of go fish. A salted sour with hint of berry.

Sweet cherry throughout. Body is smooth but a bit flat. Aged ale would be better in the front seat instead of the sugars from the cherry but still a nice drink. Like a lighter, more sugary and less balsamic version of cherry duchesse de bourgogne

From last night - second time dining out since February. A strong solid brew as always with a bigger malt backbone than most ipas.

Crisp and refreshing. I can see why this is their top selling beer now. The sour and salty combo is nice on a day like today. I’m not sure what the black line should taste like but if it’s in there, It’s delicious.
