KBS - Chocolate Espresso Molin™️
Really balanced. Good roasty coffee grinds, mild bitterness, subtle chocolate. A good stout first and foremost. Adjuncts are a light support.

Just passed 10 years cellared, and it’s not often I get to say it was a success. No off-flavoring or oxidation. Vinous, champagne, grape nose. The funkiness has mellowed and this is like a soft honey-sweetened grape-forward champagne.

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA (2023) Molin™️
Holy woah. This is far more Utopias than 120. I’m really surprised how much of the barrel is in this beer.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio Molin™️
Kicking off Sergio’s birthday right. So of course this beer could only be described as “Great”

This is about exactly what I expected from an 8 year old RIS, and I mean that with the highest compliment. Oxidation is mild and acceptable, and I think the slightly soy note is gone after warming up for ~30 minutes. Still a lovely roasty malt base.

FLN. Pretty unique, didn’t realize it was cocktail-inspired. Lime, tequila, grapefruit peel.
Warmed up for 90 minutes and it’s really genuinely fire. Most of the criticisms I’ve seen fade away when properly decanted and temp’d.

Being real, this beer has no business being anything more than a drain pour at this age, but it’s good and interesting. Sweet candied thyme on the nose. Palate is a hodgepodge of Thanksgiving stuffing spices with some barrel character. Lemon peel finish.

World Wide Stout (2016) Molin™️
Once you get into the 5+ year range these finally settle down, and what a treat. Just a archetype classic huge non-adjunct Imperial stout. Rich, bold, boozy dark malts.

KBS Chocolate Cherry (2022) Molin™️
Very subtle cherry and chocolate. Very nice as expected from any KBS.

As with most DFH beers, I can always appreciate the commitment to trying new things, and no different here: I respect the efFORT. But it simply doesnt improve upon the OG. Fruit is on the medicinal side and minimizes the overall complexity.

Probably the best expression I’ve had of 120 minute. On draft and 1-2 years old, it hasn’t gone into full hoppy barleywine mode, but it’s got a bit of that mellow, toffee malt starting to soften the bright, sweet hops. Fantastic.
Probably the ultimate beer for fulfilling the needs of a fine wine with dinner. Wow. Just wow.

Never forget how much of a West Coast rock star this ultra classic is.

Just incredible complex, bright, mildly acidic, fresh apricot, earthy yeast.

Lager? I hardly knew her! But yeah, basically a legitimately craft macro — what I wish Bud or Miller were. No rice, of course. Light, sweet malts, but a pretty noticeable hop character.

Definitely hitting the limit at 7 years. Starting to fade, but still sweet and complex.

Oude Kriek Boon (2020) Molin™️
Sweet, moderately tart, Belgian yeasty, cherry pie filling, vanilla graham cracker.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Molin™️
Mountains of chocolate and subtle cinnamon and baking spice on the nose. Boozy heat immediately on the palate, followed by toffee, dark chocolate, and barrel.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Molin™️
Figs and raisins and barleywine undertones galore. A bit of the heat WWS is known for, but both expected for over 17% and mingles with the molasses very well. Thanks so much Alex K.

American Beauty (2014) Molin™️
Bottled on 11/18/14 and this aged like 120 Minute where it isn’t particularly oxidized, so much as it’s a savory malt bomb with a ton of sweet undertones. Like a light barley wine with savory almond on the finish. Thanks to my pops Scott M. for this one.

I’ve had KBS in every variant and every which way over the years — but this is a first on nitro. Obviously smooth as hell, but also bright notes of cherry and chocolate.

Hot damn. Sick vanilla brown nose. Hints of toffee and chocolate. Tastes like a mountainous brown with coffee, creamer, toffee, and just thick sweet malt throughout.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Molin™️
You can’t go wrong with any KBS, but this probably the least mind-blowing variant yet. It’s all there — cinnamon up front, with subtle vanilla, tied together with nice rich chocolate undertones. But I want more barrel and rich decadence.
Thick, creamy, smooth, rich, decadent… all those dark raisins really make this present like an extra quadruple. Tons of brown sugar on the nose. Chocolate. Alcohol bite has completely gone after 7 years, with some noticeable, but mild malt oxidation.

Very aromatic. Spices are lovely but definitely steal the shoe over any actual pumpkin. Artwork and badge are sick.

Can’t believe it’s taken this long to get around to it, but not this is lovely. Like a crushable dessert stout — Easy Drinking but immensely rich in vanilla, coffee, and barrel notes of caramel. Maple lays in nicely right on top.

Birra Etrusca Bronze (2015) Molin™️
This is actually quite lovely, and the last year this was ever produced — dark fruit and pomegranate with the sweet honey give this a bit of a grape nose. The yeast character is very Belgian dark strong-like. Delicate, fruity, extremely complex.

Dark raspberry nose. The plate is just a massive hodgepodge of dark, aged, smooth dark fruits and those aged undertones of caramel and oak.

Quite the perfect chaser to a house-made peanut butter tequila shot. Really bringing in the jelly.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2018) Molin™️
The maple definitely subsides pretty quickly, but it’s influence remains in immense natural, rich sweetness in addition to the robust, chocolate KBS you expect. Years really do help all KBS remove the booziness, and no exception here.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017) Molin™️
Another special impeachment celebration brew: finally the booze has subsided and we’ve got KBS in all it’s glory. My worries about losing the coffee were unfounded as this still has plenty of morning joe and chocolate. Barrel nose and lactose. Fantastic.
Strong natural raspberry with mild cherry orchard backing on the nose. Super smooth and creamy texture that is part barrel, part cellaring, and part a lack of carbonation. Overall it’s quite dark and soft. Not medicinal at all. Wish it was brighter.

One of the gold standard greats that never disappoints.

I totally get the artificial comments, but I actually think this stays out of that realm just fine. It’s more bitter jam, but it’s a natural raspberry bomb, with supporting notes of chocolate and vanilla.

I would like to extend to you, an invitation to the Pants Party... the party ...the pants ...party with the pants?

What I imagine raisin cough syrup tastes like. 😂 It’s better than I make it sound, but it is certainly rich with sweet dark fruits and caramelized sugars, but has a noticeable bitterness from the bonkers ABV and malts. Finishes like dark chocolate.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Molin™️
For real and legit. Probably the best KBS variant in a many years.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Molin™️
Wonderfully decadent chocolate nose. Initial flavor is chocolate a hint of booze, but subsequent sips bring in more coffee to upend the ABV bite. This is such a great chocolate coffee treat that isn’t cloyingly sweet.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Molin™️
It’s KBS. It’s three years old. It’s great.

Delicate and sweet raspberry on the nose, but you can tell there is a punch in your face waiting behind it. Rich, bold, sweet raspberry on top of a floral malty Belgian strong foundation. Smooth as hell, and only slight alcohol esters. Marvelous.

God I love wet hop IPAs. This one is impossibly fruity with candy melon notes on the nose — fruity, juicy, fresh vibrant hop undercurrents.
I’ve had so many different agings and vintages of 120 Minute, and I like them all for different reasons. But I think 2 years is my personal favorite bang-for-the-buck. Still relatively bright with hop character before becoming more like an old ale.

World Wide Stout (2016) Molin™️
Thankfully four years absolutely tamed the heat. This is a delicious, toasty and toasty malty stout with big chocolate undertones. I wish more of the caramel apple sweetness from when it was fresh stayed.

Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2017) Molin™️
Like a liquified Riesen. Subtle oak, but not-so-subtle vanilla that dominates the nose and sweet chocolate finish.
