Aroma of caramel & faint bourbon. On the palate: Smooth light bourbon, molasses, caramel, maple syrup. Hides the % entirely, sweet sticky dessert beer

I had forgotten how much I loved this beer with some age. This is past us prime but still delicious. The maple syrup is right up front. The old ale base is faded but the hops have survived with the raisin and oak.

I’ve had a ton of new/different beer’s since the first time I had this one but it’s aging just fine and is tasty. It’s just not as high on my list as it was 5 years ago. If founders ever brings it back it won’t be this good just like all their beer now.

Neat to try these side by side. Maple has mostly worn off but the bourbon holds strong. Cant decide which i enjoy more; some of the delicate toffee notes get covered by the barrel aging.
