Missed checking this in by the fire last night - but it has aged well. Not as much chocolate anymore - but still very good.

That balanced combo of big flavoured chocolate, coffee and bourbon is always so impressive in this beer. Been a while since I've had a KBS, but the quality is still there, especially if it's got 4 years of aging on it. Silky smooth, low ABV burn.

While still good, this wasn't as good as I remembered it. This leads me to believe that maybe KBS is better fresher so you can get the tones of chocolate and coffee more pronounced. This was giving off bourbon and soy sauce flavors, with some malty tones.

Been a minute since having this - coffee is just a suggestion but the chocolate is still very solid. Great to be having this in Michigan in these surroundings. Only thing that could make it better was if Sanjay T. were here to share the bottle.

So this is still decent. Not as good as fresh but recognizable as kbs and drinkable.

LCI. To end a great beer weekend with Ronald V. 12,5% BBA imperial stout with coffee and cocoanibs. 4 yrs old. Heaps of filtercoffee in aroma, some chocolate, some bourbon. Same in taste, bit boozy. Idk I just expected the aging had done something. Not.

Rich profile. Tamed Bourbon, slightly boozy, aged and spiced. Starts roasty, burnt. Choc, vanilla, wood, nuts, licorice. Oakey. Smoked. Medium body. Oily, smooth, thin, viscous. Slightly sweet. Pleasant layers. Warming. Cozy. Still a breakfast benchmark.

Got the chocolate right up front with little coffee. The bourbon is on the back.

Nice roasty coffee w/ dark chocolate and very slight mapley hints.. perfect level of roastiness leads into slight dry finish..

Vertical 2016-2019 from the cellar. Pretty similar. Older two are more woody, less carbonated. Newer two have more chocolate flavor. All are pretty heavy on coffee & bourbon flavor, though it tastes different depending on the wood/chocolate combination.
