KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020)

Stout - Imperial / Double

Michigan didn't invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we've created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic - one that could only have originated in Michigan.

Nice chocolate. Really doesn't club you over the head and could actually use a little more barrel

Delicious. Maybe not a big difference from regular KBS? Still great. Thanks Matt S. for picking this up!

Little maple aroma. The left is chocolate. Fucking intense with smooth and sweet chocolate. Easy drinking for 11%.

Big creamy stout with pleasant sweetness from the maple, and fudge. Lovely balanced with a light roasty touch and bitter coffee and a subtle boozyness.

Wow thats a treat, chocolat, coffee, maple syrup and a good bourbon flavor. Medium thick lightly creamy and very long lingering flavor.

Chocolate coffee. Feel like I should put a shot of whipped cream or ice cream on top🍫☕️🍦. I get zero bourbon if it’s even there...

I love the base flavor and the fudge chocolate, but overly sweet with maple (and other sweets?)

You were told the moment we met that I was in a relationship & you pursued me; you were told a second time because I did not want to see you hurt & you continued to pursue me because "it made you feel good", & now you dare question MY character & loyalty?

Doesn't match up to CBS for me unfortunately. Very smooth and chocolatey, prominent coffee roast, but leaves me wanting on the mouthfeel for a stout that includes "fudge" in the name

Pours like oil. Sweetness on the nose: dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, light bonfire and bourbon booziness. Fairly heavy body with sharp sourness that peaks at midtongue: filtered coffee, dark chocolate, light raisin. Bourbon biscuit aftertaste.

That coffee profile is very intense, layered and deep, but the bourbon is way less powerful and subtle than regular old kbs, and the sweetness from the maple is overpowering the rest. This beer could have so much more.

Dark chocolate and slightly bitter coffee when cold. Sweet maple and chocolate as it warms. Barrel is subtle. Quite enjoyable.

Nose is nutty maple fudge. Sweet mocha, dark baker's chocolate, and turbinado sugar. Roasty malts and bitter cacao nibs come in late. Barrels quite muted compared to OG, but there is noticable warm booze on the finish. Nearly too sweet. Still very good.

you are lucky enough to be given; days of being wild; the saturated scarlet; the faded palimpsest; eschewed and reminded as time goes by; no anything is better than what had happened; nights of reluctantly weaved the togetherness; you may keep your smile.

Usually bourbon imperial stouts leave a unfavorable taste in my mouth, but this stout is excellently balanced. Massive fan of this beer with its maple aftertaste and slight bourbon kick, as a natural stout lover this 2020 beer is going on my top 5.
