Age has washed a bit of the favor but it is sure mellow going down. A lot of the scotch ale flavors still present.

Aged better than expected. Nose smells of malt and caramel. First sip is met with that caramel-like sweetness. As it warms up it opens up to more spices and whiskey notes. It finishes with a subtle wood and sweet character

Another 'oldie' bites the dust ;-) very dence deep aroma, sweet rich sweet jam like fruit smell, and very noticeable barrel addition. Taste is almost too much, so thick, sweet, vinous and medicinal. Food pairing for this is...? Salami? Cheese? Candy?

Cellar aged 5.5 years. Most flavors have fallen off. Sweet malt and molasses hitting so smooth that it’s almost watery. Aged too long IMO.

In the backwoods dried fruits might have gone a bit stale. Resembles now more barley wine than scotch ale and not for the better. Still ok but would've liked to taste this before "maturing".

This one wasn't as good, first the bottle exploded upon opening then taste had more of a bitterness vs my first 2. The last one I guess will tell if the bottle was bad or if the taste has plateaued.

Final additional coronavirus cellar turd bottle. This is my 40th additional turd bottle. 9 of them have been Backwoods Bastard, which slightly edges KBS for most additional turds. 340 total. Covid wasn’t even a common term when this started. Final turd 🍻

2016 vintage. This thing has gotten smooooth! Almost no booziness whatsoever. Sweet and caramel right away with just a touch of oak. Wouldn’t go back in vintages any further, this is almost to the point of oxidation.

Pehmeä bourbonin tuoksu, vaniljaa ja maltaisuutta sekä vähän rusinaa. Mausta löytyy kuivaa viskisyyttä, mallasta, hentoa mausteisuutta sekä vivahde tummaa marjaa ja hedelmää. Kyllä se on hyvin kellaroitunut. Namskis

Dried fruits, burnt caramel, vineous notes. This one is decent. Same vintage from tap at Konttori 2020 was disaster. Rated 2.1. Bottled version rated 4.0 at Konttori 2014.

Barrel nose, with a hint of caramel. A little astringent, some charcoal.
