Velvet Rush

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

Borrowing elements from both high-end craft cocktails and moody jazz clubs, Velvet Rush takes the bourbon barrel-aged brown ale up an octave with free-flowing notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla extract. Milk sugar aids in weaving together this complex tapestry of flavors to create a unique sipping experience that really ties the room together.

A very creamy ale, a very different style from founders. It’s creamy while still staying crisp. A well balanced brown ale!

Pours a slightly murky dark brown with one finger white head, little retention, solid lacing. Great aromas, lots of coffee, some chocolate and vanilla. Complex flavors, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, caramel, toasted nuts, bourbon, and oak. Delicious brew!

Everything bagel when it comes to beer. I really like the bitterness that the barrel imparts to keep it from cloying. The coffee plays a part in that too. This is one that would definitely benefit from a few years of sleep.

Pours toffee brown in color with a full head and caramel nose. Rich, soft, smooth coffee start leads to a decadently sensual velvety vanilla and cocoa body. Deceptively boozy finish is creamy and chocolatey sweet with brown sugar notes. Amazing BBA!

Did the beer fairies leave this one in our fridge? I don’t remember us buying this one, but it was quite nice!

Cold, there is a huge punch of chocolate! As it warms up, the coffee is pronounced. Nice!

It IS velvety smooth. The vanilla, coffee and chocolate blend beautifully. Then there’s that little kick at the end with the bourbon. I have enjoyed this beer.
