120 Minute IPA (2019)

IPA - Quadruple

Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads.

Still absolutely stunning. Especially for an IPA which I do not typically enjoy.

"What you have here is the holy grail for hopheads." Still have a hard time watching these get old, but it's worth it, this one is like hoppy moonshine, jet fuel has got nothing on this, prost

Next up is the 2019 version. This was a fantastic year for 120 minute. Whether it was the recipe, brewing process, or perhaps the cellar aging, this brew tasted a lot less boozy and a lot more smooth. Also had a nice hop bitterness on the backend.

Awesome 120 minute. Super malty, the booze doesn’t punch. Can’t wait to try the other 2 in a few more years!

What a treat, and on tap. It's pretty special. A prepandemic 120. Beautiful day for biking. Sunshine, light breeze, and 67 degrees.

More like a strong ale than an IPA. It’s decent but I’m underwhelmed considering the hype, not hoppy enough.

Unbelievable. 4 yrs in, drinks like an imperial made yesterday. None of the flat, stale hop characteristics aged IPAs usually fall victim too. Caramelized malt shines as it warms. Remarkable achievement, aged IPA. 21%abv drinks like 8%.

May 15: Intense. All the hops have mellowed into a boozy almost-syrup. Dayamm. Hope for a vertical tasting with subsequent years. #DEDM

Both have a nice burn to them, but very differently. Boozy, malty, hoppy. The beer, not the salsa. #DEDM Day 15

“Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, & aged for a month on whole leaf hops.” Smooth with an imperial IPA bitter harsh finish.

Absolutely crazy. Still a lot of hops on nose, but mainly malt. Syrupy and sweet with a lot of grain and malt. Some light hops on taste. Lots of alcohol.

Wow did this sweeten up over time. I’m getting a sweet malty flavor like brown sugar. Hop flavor has really dissipated. Honey note is still there. I think I like it better aged than fresh. 4.15 on this one.
