So good. Vanilla sweetness. Roasty notes and oaken bourbon notes with a touch of maple.

Was not expecting it to be this good. The sweetness really builds after initial taste.

This is so hard to describe. I feel like it has lost its identity. It’s not quite sure which direction it wants to go in. It might be trying too hard for a porter.

Sweet and strong with a thick body and vanilla and licorice flavor to spare.

That initial flavor was big maple and vanilla. Subsequent tastes give a bigger booze presence than the abv. Maple and vanilla have good representation here.

It's good, but there's something mildly off-putting about it. The sweetness seems off. Maybe the vanilla?

Syrup season is 'mostly' in the books and thankful for the bountiful harvest! Good night!

Founders knocked it out of the park with this one! By barrel aging, the maple syrup and vanilla lend an addicting, yet never overpowering, sweetness to this porter. All-in all, great dessert beer that drinks pretty easy for being 9% ABV.

It's nice when a porter is done well and this 1 is. Very smooth and drinkable, my gripe is that it has an off vanilla flavor imo. I realize the label says vanilla extract but that doesn't cover what I'm experiencing. Having said that it still a good beer.

Perfect ending after a hard bike ride and wrestling some homemade pizza dough into submission in prep for the weekend.

Aroma of star anise, faint vanilla, and bourbon oak. Maple syrup taste upfront with vanilla, coconut, licorice, dark chocolate, and booze. Finish is warm but not hot with moderate bitterness. An excellent imperial porter!

Thin, khaki head, very dark brown, and minimal lacing. Nose- mild, sweet, dark malts. Taste- quite sweet, dark-roasted malt, with char, cocoa, vanilla, and coffee. Some bitterness, but I did not notice bourbon. High-medium body. Moderately-dry finish. RJT
