Wow - the smell after opening (acetone?) brought back memories of getting a case of 2016 & ‘needing’ to consume it before we moved to Prague… raw hop schnapps. Good/oily… but better if you leave it to figure things out on its own…

120 Minute IPA (2013) .Hookstar

Yum. Hops are still surprisingly strong after 10 years. Verticals of 120min are dangerous due to the amount of leftovers… capping in preparation for ANOTHER share later this week…

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA .Hookstar

I’m not sure it’s an improvement on 120minute, but it does introduce an interesting new direction. I wonder if these barrels will now be used to condition DFH’s new whiskey…? Great staff at the tap room - really enjoyed it.

Tragic. Corky / vinegar bottle… haven’t had a Cantilion like this in a long time - but I knew there was a problem the minute I pulled the cork. Swollen & nearly no gas - I wish it had gone Brett instead of this infection…

Strange puzzle - very disappointing- seems like it has aged like Benjamin Button - I remember it was drinkable when first bottled…. it now tastes raw and unruly (even after giving it 6+ hours to breathe). It’s just not good.

Maybe I shouldn’t say that rarity =/= great beer. This is underbodied, still wears its alcohol up front (as if it didn’t stop long in the barrel - and had a bit of liquid fortification). No coffee. Not complex. Happy to trade if someone wants one or two
