Zwanze 2020 - Brettrave

Lambic - Fruit

This year, we wanted to return to our roots, which inspired the special blend for Zwanze 2020: Lambic with beetroot! The beer's color is intensly red, fluorescent even, and the nose is fruity yet quite earthy. The palate is complex, a nice balance between the acidity of the Lambic and the roundness of the beetroot.

Earthy fresh pressed beet juice on the nose. Beets overpower the lambic but nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed it. Went for a second pour. Would love to try out of the bottle with some age!

It’s Cantillon but the beetroot is a bit too prominent (and I’m not the biggest fan of beets). Interesting concept though.

Had this at Side Project Zwanze. Lambic and some earthy notes on the nose. Beautiful deep red color. The palate is mainly an earthy beet flavor with some acidity and oakiness to round it out. 2/5 tartness. Crisp finish. Very interesting few.

Despite having a horrible old beet and wilted wheat grass nose, this is a pretty interesting brew. It has a surprisingly deep body that has a flavor with a lot of good vegetal, root-y/earthy, notes to it and a nice,, faintly funky, beet-y sweet finish.
