Strawberry balsamic on nose and tasty is similar with some slight fruity fresh yeasty grapes. LCI cantillon

4.2. Rosé all day! Really fresh grapes mixed in a lambic package. Very refreshing and begged to be drank next to the water.

Both times I've had this beer I've loved it. Such a deep indistinguishable fruit character. Each sip you are hit with cherry, dried fruit leather, honey, blueberries... 4.6

Honestly even when young has such an insane character. Exemplifies what cantillon does so well - blurs the line of natural wine and lambic.
Maybe some bottle variation but one of the most boring cantillon wine blends I've had. Maybe overshown that day but this was not memorable. One of the best label arts from cantillon though!

LCI cantillon- 2nd use nilla beans from the magic lambic. This is the pinnacle of pastry lambic. Way too much vanilla to be enjoyable and even after rinsing the vanilla was so perfumy.

Checking in on this lovely bottle. Even in the short span of a year the port sweetness has started to integrate so well. Some slight funk appearing which adds to the whole package.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut (2016) Cottreau
Checking in on another bottle I loved last time at cantillon. Some of the fresh acidity has started to settle and the bottle is great but also in an in between phase at the moment. Let's see in another 1-2 years!

One of the surprises at cantillon! This bottle between the group of roughly 10 was among the best of the day. So much vinsanto character all while such little sweetness. Amazing integration of lambic and wine, even at such a young age! 4.6

Drogone Lambic (2020) Cottreau
Imagine this will get better with time. Some wine character but missing overall depth of flavour. Dat label of course tho

Total sulphur/ reverse notes. Some nice qualities overshadowed by those off notes. Bottle variation? Time needed?

LCI cantillon- much better than 2018. Still having this musky sulphuric notes that somewhat leave after some oxygen interacts with the beer. Quite funky, spritzy but I will let my bottle age.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie es Belge Cottreau
What a story behind this & what a bottle. Meeting Jean the night before to drinking this. What a stunner. Curry notes, Indian spices, Vin Jaune, walnuts, funk, spritz but in no way young. Amazing buttery notes in the best way possible. To the next #2500!

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2015) Cottreau
Thx Samuel M. & co. Delicious creamy oak with loads of lemon/lime zest. So delicious

Agreed with Max v. ... better than the previous 13 but still unpleasantly sour.

Lou Pepe Gueuze (2013) Cottreau
LPG my spirit animal. Love this. Stone fruit, tart acidity, oak, vanilla, geuze lemon lime forward.

Lou Pepe Kriek (2015) Cottreau
Turning into something I like! Age will do this even better. Schaarbeekse, some tartness staring to come through, great.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015) Cottreau
4.3. Somehow a pretty muted version of this. Very funky, but missing some of the citrus/lemon zest notes that I expect & love from cantillon. Quite tart but a nice creamy mouthfeel. Some aged hops.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Cottreau
More cantillon lemon-geuzey-funk thank spirit barrel. Definitely letting my bottles develop a little longer. Quite sweet and acidic at the same time.
This has developed interestingly. At the moment more geuze than grape. Aroma: white peach and some gewurztraminer. Taste is quite lemon/citrus forward like an aged cantillon geuze. After taste is some grape, white pepper. Let's see what another year does!

Rosé de Gambrinus (2021) Cottreau
Tad better then the last bottle but this batch is not hitting the jammy notes I love in the gambrinus. Still good stuff!

Saint Lamvinus (2019) Cottreau
4.4. Even when it is only about a year in the bottle this has a great balance of funky merlot with a dry finish. Always a great accompaniment to some cheese and meats. Some pepper in the end from the grapes. Full.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio Cottreau
2018 vintage / 4.4. This was really starting to come into it's own. Both young and zingy and some signs of slight age. Oak, slight vanilla, some lemon zest, bone dry.

Beer Geek Vanilla Shake Barrel Aged Bourbon Cottreau
No ranking - much passed its prime for me. Spirit is indeed well integrated. Reminds me of nilla bcbs 18 in its icecream like quality. Also has some oxidized BW notes to it.Interesting to try!

Fou battle. 19 was more acidic with the lambic already jumping at the forefront. Some cantillon lemon oak coming through. Sour apricot candy is what I stick by! Amazing pairing with a vanilla infused panna cotta

For me the slight winner. 4.6 or so - you can really tell the quality of fruit from 2020. Super ripe peach/apricot nectar, orchard, flat white peaches. Interesting to see how this ages in about 6 months!

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°2 Cottreau
Bottle sat out for too long maybe. Super garden herby which works not so well for me.

4.6. Wanted to check in on this and no time like the present! Gotten slightly better in the last 6 months. Super pithy rhubarb with some tart raspberries at the back. Lambic funk coming in nicely now
over 4 years ago
Generic checkin for a '20 bottle. Damn we popped this bottle at a very weird moment. With ~1y in the bottle the acidity overtakes the cherries and the base lambic doesn't have much room to shine. My inner Mats is saying "fucking cantillon corks".

Lou Pepe Kriek (2007) Cottreau
Just wow. The epitome of aged kriek. A: vanilla, oak, schaarbeekse. T: Full bodied, cherry sour candy, cinnamon. AT: cinnamon bomb, sour cherry mead, long finish. Fruited lambic of the year for me! Fuck yes. Long live the king

Lou Pepe Gueuze (2005) Cottreau
Boom!!! Maybe a little over the hump but LPG is my beer ♡. A: muted white pepper in comparison to the LPG11 in the summer, parmesan, oxidation. T: green apple assault, acidity+, cheesy funk. AT: white pepper, leather, lemon, relatively short finish
over 4 years ago
Dunno if this could ever be a 5 for me but this is so great. Balanced acidity, aged hop profile which brings in some spice and more peppery notes, old aged meyer lemon cantillon funk, could actually drink this whole thing.

DDH NE lambic is right. Not for me fresh. Needs 2+ years minimum

Still - amazing as always. About 1y.o fou is my fave. Great balance of acidity, funk and fruit

Gueuze 100% Lambic (2000) Cottreau
Crazy carb and acidity. Lemon biscuity cantillon goodness. Thanks for sharing Christopher S. ! Possibly the funkiest beer I've ever had. The cork smells like super funky cheese!

Boom!!! Thanks Jakob S. for cracking this. Immense funk and rhubarb aroma. Still remains one of my favorite cantillon beers. This is so well rounded with the rose de gam finish. Could chug the bottle!

Lou Pepe Framboise (2012) Cottreau
Super acidic but also very nice. Tons of raspberry, actually way more then when we had the 2015 fresh. Very fresh raspberry, some wine tannins. Thx Christopher S.

Actually underwhelming. I can't believe the 2011 Framboos tasted so much fresh raspberries and this is almost in the afterthought.
