Saint Lamvinus (1994) Cottreau
What better way to hit badge 100. Considering what hoops were jumped through to bring us this beer I was skeptical. Huge amount of bottle variation from what I saw and heard but for me was huge herbal, lil fruity, crazy geuze qualities. Blown away

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2014) Cottreau
Was expecting more lambic forward qualities but was hit with even more vin jaune. Couldn't imagine LVEB could get better but this did that. Also had a pour of the end of the bottle and that was a flavour bomb - no acidity just pure walnut & curry!

Lambic Grenache Blanc (2021) Cottreau
A little to volatile atm for me. Dish was great, pairing not so much

Much better than previous bottles of this Imho the wine >>

4.4 - best bottle of sophia so far. Combo of burrata and anchovies works very well, radicchio less so.

Never thought I'd get to try this. Huge cognac. Buttery. Loooooooooong finish. Works incredible with the cheese. Stunning

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend 2015 Cottreau
Quite tasty. Super easy to drink but a little one dimensional

Classic Gueuze (2018) Cottreau
4.4ish. Very delicious, missing some impactful finish. Mag

Absolutely fantastic. Vie Jr but in a different direction. As it warmed was more and more spur woody notes, with some spirit as well. Drinks like a geuze with a tiny addition of Speyside whisky. Surprise of the day

Huge tropical fruit note on this. Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Wow.

One of the sleepers of the day. Quite acidic for fresh cantillon but works soooo well with the grapes. Extremely easy to drink

Lambic Dans La Prairie (2019) Cottreau
Totally not mine. Extremely bitter and unbalanced

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2019) Cottreau
Quintessential lambic. Just all the right notes. Geuze, sweet honey, curry, spicy. Opens up with 30+ mins. Just absolutely perfect.

Nuit Bruxelloise (2019) Cottreau
Might have been an off bottle. Lots of sulfuric notes. Got much better after an hour being opened.

Some carb! Also quite sharp but loads of complexity. Quite nice

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend 2011 Cottreau
Over the hump, some oxidative notes. 3.6

Very sharp and less fruit intensity than expected from fou. Definitely worlds away from the floral stone fruit explosion of 2020. Still enjoyable.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°4 Cottreau
Favorite black label yet! Perfect match to some fried food. A bit simplistic but Goes down smooth especially at 7%

Lou Pepe Kriek (2009) Cottreau
Another thanks to Mats J. for this. A great example of what aging this beer can do! Some acetone which went away after the bottle was open 30min. Great balance of funk & fruit at this moment. Food: confit quail legs, fondant potatoes, berry wine reduction
over 3 years ago
Big thanks for cracking this Mats J. Aged iris indeed best iris. Huge funk character with some acidity which blew the dish and pairing to the next level. Food pairing: butter poached cod on top of peas & miso beurre blanc. 11/10 pairing

4.6 lci from weeks ago - could drink liters of this. Slight Vin Jaune on the palate - like a mini LVEB.

A little underwhelming. Some damp cellar, cork, lots of oak. Didnt really open up when in the glass & very low carb

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2018) Cottreau
Mag. In contrast to the 15 we had previously this was needing some extra time. Still tasty

From bottle this time. Lots of cantillon funk coming through with rhubarb at the back end. No sulphur, pure deliciousness.

Some new American friend said this tasted like pink lemonade and its hilarious how accurate that was

Almost like a less intense nuit. Complex, vinous red wine

Gewurztraminer Lambic (2020) Cottreau
Quite sweet on the nose but very very complex and enjoyable on the palate. Woohoo nice to try this

Can really taste the amphora in this. Super super mineral geuze forward, light on the grapes. Slightly acidic. Would be interested to see what this turns into given a few years

Much tastier then expected given the reviews! Young red spritzy wine. Not overly complex but no unfermented grapes like in some of these fresh blends

Tyrnilambic Baie D'Argousier (2021) Cottreau
No rating as a small sip but very very pleasant! Almost a minty / lemon lime vibe to this. Very interesting and showing no signs of being young

Mag life. Different experience then the 07 and fresh. Turning into what I really loved in aged LPK. Super drinkable and filled with almond and cherry compote

Oude Geuze Boon à l'Ancienne - VAT 108 Mono Blend Cottreau
A little overly oaky especially when in the glass. Intense lemon, sour wood, vanilla. Quite heavy with the 8%
almost 4 years ago
Quite cool side by side with the bofkont, some herbal & mineral notes coming through which I have never noticed before.
Never been my favorite. Better than 19 from memory but too green pepper and bitter/herbal

Love love love this label. Beer is also so good. Deep plum complexity with this almost Olive background taste. Super zingy and citrusy and another summer crusher!
What a surprise on the menu @ Cantillon. Example why white > red wine lambic. This is the definition of what I search for in aging and also lambic in general. Especially after decanting in the glass ~30min this was insane. Funk++, white wine, lemon...

Nuit Bruxelloise (2015) Cottreau
Now this is what we came here for! Lukas S. Nailed it with a thick Montepulciano body! This bottle has so much life left in it. Leaning more on the 70/30 wine/beer ratio. Complex long finish, red fruits, tobacco and earthiness. After ~1hour this sang!

Zwanze 2018 - Manneken Pise Cottreau
Still delicious as ever. This in 5 years would be insane
almost 4 years ago
Lmao wut. My favorite beer label ever and so hyped for this. Smells of oxidative burning plastic. Gets better after 30min in glass but this is crazy bottle variation.

CLAC! (Trois Cépages) (2019) Cottreau
Middle of the road of the day. Missing some complexity for me. Slightly watery. Wish more of the different grapes were coming through

Honestly dont get the hype for this bottle. Glorified Vigneronne. Tasty but nothing out of this world LCI cantillon
