Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015) Cottreau
4.6 : uprank from 3 years ago. This is funky, lemony, almost verging on iris cantillon funk. Super delicious and creamy carbonation which makes this so quaffable on a sunny day

Oude Geuze Boon (2010-2011) Cottreau
One dimensional and also somehow still tastes fresh? Haha Thanks ttt

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2011) Cottreau
No pop, but super integrated carb. Loved the creamy mouthfeel of this geuze, there's an inherent sharp Meyer lemon acidity which is a little high for personal preference. I prefer the funk of the 14! Always thanks million for those bringing old geuze ttt

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2014) Cottreau
Oh yessss this was complex, funky, dirty, earthy, a little sherry notes coming through. Low in acidity but what was there uplifted the package. Favorite of the share, thanks for the geuze milkshake Salvatore L. 😂

Less sour than expected for close to 5 years in bottle!!

I'm sorry but I hope we got an off bottle. This is just (almost) as soapy as the orange zwanze. Like buying into lavender. Expected to love this :/

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2017) Cottreau
Fantastic. Reaching it's peak drinking window imo.

This was totally not what I expected from an algae/seaweed beer. Instead of intense brine I got tons of tropical fruit mixed in with some herbal qualities. Papaya salad vibes, ultra creamy from tap and quite thick in comparison to normal geuze.

Juicy, tannic, creamy. Surprisingly drinkable at 4am, thanks Thomas 😂

Classic Gueuze (1998) Cottreau
Thanks for the pour. Crazy fruitiness, when jean poured it he said "could be a fou foune" and totally agree. It has this fresh perfumy notes akin to those of some new blenders plum beers, which I love. The palate was super stone fruity and complex.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2020) Cottreau
What is there to say? Sometimes life is hard, and frustrating. Sometimes you get to sit down with your thoughts and with such a beer. You think to yourself, life can't be that bad. To life!

Still an absolute banger. Lambic before noon just hits different, especially these two sensational ones. Tarlantillon now represents a better mix of both the champagne grapes and the lambic, for my tastes. The lambic can now shine through the grapes.

Called it! A few years later this is absoluteeeelyyyyy singing. Funky port, white pepper, cantillon lambiek, super elegant in the sweet & sour portions of the beer. Glad to revisit this in the coming years to see it's peak!!!

Was super interested in this blend when I heard some portion of zwanze 2022 was blended with it. Result is my favorite mamouche to date! Amazing blend of the floral elements with some extra dimension from the pepper. Absolute banger - drink fresh! 4.6

Saint Lamvinus (2022) Cottreau
Honestly 4.6 but uprank for the amazing pairing. Slightly better than the last time! This vintage is absolutely the best of all worlds. Funky tannins, crisp, slightly acidic. Potato - fried potato skin - gremolata - beef cheeks.

Young but very enjoyable. Strong lindemans profile

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2016) Cottreau
Around the 4.6 mark. Cantillon geuze around the 7/8 year mark is about as good as they get for me! Delicious. Side by side with 2011 and this the clear winner with less acidity and more funk

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2011) Cottreau
Too much acidity for my taste. Feels like it is quite closed off even with the extra time in the glass. A little over what I prefer. Thanks nonetheless ttt

Vig with extra floral, white pepper aspects. Very tasty

Meh, normal fresh kriek on good years is better than this. One note.

Lou Pepe Kriek (2014) Cottreau
Even better than at quintessence. Really hitting exactly my vibe on LPK. The duck went (of course) extremely well with the cherries

Herbs - pomegranate - smoked olive oil - dry aged chicken. This combination and beer were heavenly. One of my favorite wine blends. Such a huge orange wine vibe. Would be cool to check in a few years when the lambic gets a chance to shine

Lou Pepe Gueuze (2002) Cottreau
4.4 - no carb but no unpleasant oxidation. The LPG character is all but gone. Like a slightly more acidic aged grand cru bruscella. Thanks a bunch Mats J.

Blåbær Lambik (Blueberry Lambic) (2021) Cottreau
Less blueberry than last time but also a very phenolic nose and a quite odd finish

Consistent 90th percentile. Love the integration at the moment. Sweet sour, the unpleasant over sweet character is fading. Super nice

Lambic D’Aunis (2022) Cottreau
4.3ish. Best grape lambic tied with plaisir 2023 today. Super enjoyable and integrated. Wish there was more typical aunis balck pepper funk!

Farty on the nose, palate is strawberries and all other berries.

4.2 - 2023 and 22 versions of plaisir are definitely much better than previous. This version is still too sweet, but a lot of various good characteristics. Looking forward forward checking in again!

Quite neutral but not at the same time. Lemon lime, nothing much else. Aroma is subdued, finish is very short. Acetic

Different, more elegant version of 50N I've had. Aroma is super nutty, orange peel, wood and moss after raining. Palate is sweet, woody, cognac. Finish is mildly short otherwise world class levels. Very enjoyable. 4.3

Classic Gueuze (2015) Cottreau
Good bottle. Citrus Aroma, dusty blankets, dried apricot, toasted sesame, peanut shells, almost fortified wine type of sweetness. Balance between age and fresh qualities. Doesnt taste 8 years old! Breakfast solo dome at the source. Could be worse!

Saint Lamvinus (2007) Cottreau
Oh my 🥰. Cheesiness reminiscent of LPG. Aroma: super cheesy, reminiscent of am amazing aged cantillon geuze, slightly fruity and musty on nose Taste: zippy wine, fades to green apple, cognac Finish: tannins carry this, merlot, wine yeast

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2007) Cottreau
Aroma: cognac, lemon spritz, black pepper Taste: mineral, cognac, heavy, creamy Aftertaste: salt, pithy grapefruit B1 after 30min: maple candy on nose. Old cellar. Taste is a little less balanced if I'm being picky. Lemon sour candy, bitter oak. Could

Aroma: sour cherry, lemon zest, sesame, heather honey Taste: maybe not synergistic in the way I would like. The lemon of cantillon a little fights the aged 3f softness. Cantillon takes the front seat, but none of the usual corkiness from aged cantillon.

After seeing the blackness was a little scared but what a perfect preserved bottle. Aroma: wowwww funky cheesy overload, pink peppercorns, deep cognac layers, orange peel Taste: sherry, horse blanket, leather, faint fruitiness, buttery on mid palate

Another beer which blew me away. Loved it at Quint, and this bottle was even better. Fluffy woodruff, industrial notes which I get sometimes in whisky, mineral/sherry character from the lambic base. Elegant aperitif, with a long lasting dry finish

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2012) Cottreau
Not bad by any means but nothing like batch 1. Original owner, only moved from original cellar 1 week prior to opening. This was quite subdued, not a lot of cognac and not a lot of anything else going on.
Winner of the sbs with 2010. Softer, more clarity. Soft soft mineral character mixed in, which is often not the case with aged cantillon. Still some acidic acid which takes away from making it world class, but still on the verge of balanced. 09 vig still>
almost 2 years ago
Fun side by side. Both bought from original owners and only moved once. The 2010 was quite acidic with a lot of redeeming qualities as well.

Saint Lamvinus (2019) Cottreau
About 4.4 like my last ranking just shy of 2 years ago. Funky, merlot still there. Medium acidity, carbonation is light. Good to be home. Dry aged tomahawk steak, oyster sauce glazed bok choy, baked fennel / tomato / butter beans with basil chimichuri

Lou Pepe Gueuze (2010) Cottreau
Hmm. Aroma was ruined by that "dank aged cantillon cork". Beer was great. Mild acidity, super cheesy and funky like all LPGs. Camembert rind. Tasty - unfortunate for the cork smell. Maybe need to check in on another lpg soon

Spent better part of a bottle together and this is getting to a great point at the moment. Beautiful balance from acidity to grape to lambic.

Yeah - this vintage is good. Super musty, funky, leathery and restrained acidity
over 2 years ago
Interesting to try this pure as a psrt of the new st lam blend. Can see why it was blended! Less tannins, more acidity then the typical merlot. Cool to try. Maybe gets better with age but imo not in the long term
