Most enjoyable Cantillon I’ve had in a quite awhile. Stellar batch.

Cantillon Grenache Blanc (2022) Bowman
Bit of a gusher this time, filling the kitchen with a lovely Brettanomyces perfume. Daughter came in soon after and petulantly asked me if I was eating cheese.

Appropriate accompaniment whilst watching the excellent “Bottle Conditioned” lambic documentary.

Mini vertical 2020-2023. 2023 - 3.75 Really fruity, lacking carbonation. 2022 - 4.0 Solid 2021 - 4.25 Favorite of the bunch, excellent carbonation and nicely balanced. 2020 - 4.0 Best carbonation, but the fruit has faded a lot.

Fruit has fallen off quite a bit, but it’s still perfectly carbonated. I reckon I’ll finish off my last few bottles of this asap - it’s not getting any better.

50°N - 4°E (Batch 7 - 2020) Bowman
Way better than batch 6. The creamy carbonation makes all the difference.

Hard to describe. To me it’s an OTT boozy, syrupy, oxidised IPA. Interesting to try, but I wouldn’t get it again.

Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N 8 Bowman
As always, excellent bang for the buck.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2023) Bowman
Light and creamy carb, fairly restrained cherry intensity, mild acidity (for a Kriek). 8 Mar 23 bottle date.

Rose De Gambrinus (2023) Bowman
100th unique Cantillon check-in! 🥳 Reasonably balanced acidity and less funk compared to some bottles I’ve tried previously. Wouldn’t mind a bit more fruit concentration. This’ll go down easy this Summer. 06.03.23 bottling.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2019) (+25% 4 Year Lambic) Bowman
Recently discovered I have a couple of these particular bottles in my cellar. The description is inaccurate however, as they were purchased retail and not part of a pack. Definitely has some 50N/Brabantiae vibes, yet very little carbonation.

The Zwanze Poivre des Gorilles blended with this Mamouche brings quite noticeable pepper to both the nose and taste of this fantastic beer, completely transforming it into something quite unique and absolutely delicious.

Some bottle issues so despite enjoying this I’ll leave it unrated. Cheers, Jonathan T.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Bowman
Lci. Seems more astringent compared to previous batches I’ve tried.

14 Mar 22 bottle date. One of the best gueuze bottles from Cantillon I’ve had in a long time. Great blend.

Woody, creamy, balanced acidity, nice fruit concentration, dry.

This is definitely getting better - the creamy carbonation is especially on point, while the complexity continues to evolve nicely. 4.60

Pretty tasty batch, if a little thin.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise 2021 Bowman
Trying this (3 Feb 21) bottle again before I open the new 2022 stuff. Hops have faded, yet the bright carb and pleasant tartness remain.

28 Oct 21 bottle date. Flavor‘s good, but this batch could use more carbonation.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2020) Bowman
Impressive how well the fruit has held up. The pillowy carbonation is also on point.

4 Oct 20 bottle date. Still drinking damn good, but I prefer the Oct 2019 batch I drank the other day.

10 Oct 19 bottle date - first batch with Viognier grapes. Oaky, fine carb, vinous, citrus, reasonable acidity, and really dry.

Although the rhubarb is definitely starting to fade, this is still tasty stuff.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2022) Bowman
9 Mar 22 bottling. Nice creamy carbonation, surprisingly mild acidity (probably because I can barely taste the cherries). Normally a bottle this fresh would be bursting with jammy goodness. Sadly, this isn’t the case here.

Rosé De Gambrinus (2022) Bowman
02 March 2022 bottling date. This is really good when it’s fresh!

Starts off with some not entirely pleasant medicinal flavors until it warms up. Nicely carbonated, vinous, medium acidity and dry.

I’d say this is an improvement compared with the 2020 bottles I’ve had.

What better to pair with my “Royal Cheese” than the Queen of lambic?

50°N-4°E (Batch 6 - 2020) Bowman
Confirms my previous opinion that there’s not much distinguishable between this and Batch 7. Goes down easy with a Thai curry!

50°N - 4°E (Batch 7 - 2020) Bowman
I think this is actually the eight bottle I’ve tried from the two 2020 batches. Can’t say I really notice any difference between them. Could definitely use more carbonation.

Pretty much flat, as you’d expect. Not much on the nose. Oak, green apple/citrus, tart, fairly bitter and dry. Some mild diacetyl notes.
