Zwanze 2013 - Abbaye de Cureghem

Lambic - Traditional

Brewed in March 2012, our "Cureghem" beer fermented four weeks in stainless steel tanks before being blended with 10% lambic and pumped into 400-litre barrels of various origins. After maturing for six months, the beers were blended and put into casks or bottles to undergo re-fermentation and reach 7.2% ABV

Got flat in my option. I know it’s 10 years old and compared to the 2014 it’s not as good Was nice some time ago for sure

4.15. Interesting. Softer than bottle version that may lead you think it watery but the balance is indeed better to me

Not too “tripeley”. Nice. François-Xavier C. seriously needs a new shirt though.

Dry bitter fig finish is legacy of the abbey ale. Interesting, not seductive.

Herbaceous bitterness, dry, astringent. A bit of leathery Brett character, low acidity.

Quite bitter. Light body. More like a Abbey style lighth-bodied dry-finish saison.

👃 Gros boisé, poussiéreux, malté 👅 De nouveau ce côté très vieilli, notes résineuses, légère amertume. Spéciale... trop vieille ? (9 ans d'âge)

Œil : cuivré, col fin. Nez : vielles pommes, vieux bois, poussiéreux, vielles céréales. Bouche : vieux bois, pommes, amertume herbacée, sèche. Trop vieille.

Un peu apre au départ puis avec le temps ça devient de plus en plus intéressant. Particulier, peu acide, mais l’expérience en valait le coup

Definitely unique, sweet with almost no tartness, lots of caramel and fruity esthers, some nice funk and oak but more tripel than lambic for sure. Not fantastic but good and interesting for sure!
