Lou Pepe Gueuze (2011) G.

Perfection. Even better than the bottle we had a few weeks ago actually, creamier and fatter, with vanilla and candied lemon zest, a beauty. So different from regular gueuze after aging, it's a while different beast and I love both. Merci Jean.

Chenin Blanc G.

New batch still in the barrel, I think I like that one better, much more typical of Chenin, super juicy quince, pear too. Looking forward to revisit it when it's carbonated

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles G.

Bottled version. Tried directly after opening and a couple hours later. At that point it's a little rough, everything is more intense than on tap, greener, more lemon, more of a peppery bite. Palate is in between and better but still need a few months

Lou Pepe Kriek (2020) G.

Straight from the cask, in a bottle not even closed. Pure candy version of the all time great classic, young but already tons of cinnamon and marzipan, it's gonna be a banger vintage. Merci Jean!

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015) G.

Super underrated imo, especially 2015. Already fantastic but will get perfect in a few years.

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles G.

Wow, so much better than I expected, one of the best Zwanzes imho, especially on tap (bottle still need time to mellow). Tons of pepper on the nose with all its nuances, lemon too, flagrant but no bite. Palate is similar but more complex, ....

Choux - Ultimate Zwanze UZ (2009) G.

I don't care for ticks, but that one was fun to try after hearing so much about it. No Brussels sprout anymore beside a light vegetable green note in the back other than that, beautiful aged gueuze! Nice lemon bite and oak, dusty funk, sesame, apple, ...

Another Zwanze, another Jaune 18. Such a great VJ finish!

Grenache Noir 2021 G.

Reminds me a lot of Divin, but better imo. Lots of candied red grape and nice tannins, but all very smooth and more complexe. Very berry forward and a little sweet from it right now but will get more interesting I think.

Saint Lamvinus (2016) G.

A little cold at the time of serving so a but more generic, but you start getting that older complexity and it brings out the tannins in a nice way.

Brabantiae G.

Getting more vinous, with more depth and light berries, a touch of wood but not that much actually, pretty round

Didn't move much in 6 months, still a lot of whisky but in a good way, love the balance with the wood and smooth spirit here

Gueuze Cuvée Moeder 10 Ans (2019) G.

That one seems to evolve quickly. More vinous, more oak, and somehow seems creamier with a silkier texture. Time will render that beautiful I'm sure.

Sang Bleu (Camerise) G.

A little tarter than the previous batches imo, but overall very similar, tons of fruits and that fresh eucalyptus minty note that gives an extra layer of complexity, lovely and it will get better in 2 or 3 years probably

Zwanze 2015 - Wild Brussels Stout G.

Liked that one a little less this time, still enjoy it more than most people seem to tell me, but lost a little balance and depth for me as it seems lighter. Like it a lot anyway, as far as that style goes it's up there.

Chardonnay (2021) G.

As good as every: buttery, sesame, oak, lemon juice and zest, ... one of the best white grape blends of the past years imho.

Zwanze 2021 - Parasol G.

Seems like that astringent edge came back in the bottle a little, liked it a bit more last time. Still better than the first time I've had it on tap, but it will really get better with more years on it. Other than that, total beach lambic.

La Corvée G.

I liked this a lot actually, some people thought it was just okay but I really enjoy how "Jura red" it really is. Similar profile to the Poulsard and Trousseau individual infusions last year but a little more concentrated: strawberry, red currant, ... 4.4

Zwanze 2019 G.

Seems smokier than before somehow! Still mild and not overpowering that beautiful gueuze blend which has a bright future ahead, but it's definitely more there on the nose and palate. Top 3 Zwanze beers ever for me.

Zwanze 2013 - Abbaye de Cureghem G.

Definitely unique, sweet with almost no tartness, lots of caramel and fruity esthers, some nice funk and oak but more tripel than lambic for sure. Not fantastic but good and interesting for sure!

50°N-4°E (2022) G.

Still flat at the moment, so the barrels are very present, time will tell how much will remain once carb kicks in, but now it's tons of molasses rum, toffee and vanilla, spices, more spices from the marsala, and leather from the cognac, a future killer!

4.5

Barbera G.

Reminds me of Divin a bit, bold red wine with some fruitiness and tannins but overall rather simple and easy, not too complexe. A bit young for sure, for me it's not fully integrated with the base yet and will improve with a bit of time.

Le Plaisir G.

2022, still flat at this point. Love how it tastes right now, the fact that it has no carb gives it more of an orange wine vibe abs it might be my favorite rendering of this beer so far. Curious to see how that blend will turn out later!

2-Year Unblended Oude Lambiek G.

Straight from cask, great barrel here. Complex and displaying a lot of the qualities you would get from a final blend, sesame, oak, cider apple, funk, ... one of the better Boon lambic I've came across.

T42 G.

Awesome, 5 years old straight lambic, single barrel. Lot of white tea for me, also beeswax, lot of oak, lemon, funk, ... lot of depth and keeps evolving in the glass with almond, leather, sesame and so on

Classic Gueuze (2004) G.

It's been a little while trying that 2004, still moving but yet very familiar. A little more Sulphur at opening here but that particular bottle had a slightly lower level. Other than that, sesame, lactic, dusty cellar, ... the usual goodness.

4.75

Lou Pepe Kriek (2019) G.

Obviously fantastic as all LPK, but slightly under the previous batches for me as the fruit is a little watered down, visibly the harvest faced a lot of rain and fruits were packed with water which explains it. Still feels wrong to complain as it's killer

50°N-4°E G.

New 2022 batch. Still very young so the barrels are super upfront, but huuuuge molasses rum with sticky toffee and vanilla, wow. This is gonna be awesome later on. A portion of Marsala as well that adds spiciness, cognac comes last but gives depth, tasty!

Lambic Jaune (2014) G.

Always the star of the show obviously. 2016 is still my GOAT but that particular bottle was better than the last 2014 I've had, still plenty of barrel character upfront

Zwanze 2008 G.

So fresh still! Vibrant rhubarb but very soft, zero Sulphur. Almost no tartness in this blend, like a slightly tart funky lager almost, lots of cereal coming through. A little green note as well. Super tasty and easy to drink

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2016) G.

Nice "in between" young & mature profile, from that point that's where Cantillon gueuze becomes truly awesome. Sesame, funk, wet oak, and a positive oxidation that gives a caramelized malt/honey touch to the whole thing and makes it softer. Thx wentao l.

LCI, surprisingly clearer than vintages 12/13/16, but similar profile, great

Manzanilla G.

More sherry character than some months ago, still subtle though. Delicate oxidative notes but nothing to see with LVEB, very different. I think I need to try it again with more time to let it open up and enjoy its full potential. More age too?

Tarlantillon G.

Super interesting! You really get that Champagne profile coming through from the grape, gives it that Brut minerality. Yellow fruits as well, that should be very interesting to revisit in a while! Worked well with the parmesan pairing too. And that label!

Saint Lamvinus (1994) G.

That's something you don't get to try everyday, 28 years old St Lamvinus! Lots of bottle variations but I got lucky with a very good one, still lots of vinous grape, nice mature lambic funk, just a touch of acetic and oxidation, impressive of balance.

4.5

Lou Pepe Kriek (2014) G.

Still top 3 LPK vintage for me after 2013, and right before 2011. So delicious, perfect kriek. Cinnamon, almond, deeeeep cherry for days. A super pie. And that pairing with a delicious chocolate surrounding a raspberry jelly made from spent fruits, wow.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2014) G.

That batch might nit want to wait any longer imho. Very good but the aged gueuze character took over and the barrel shows mostly in the finish, in a mild way. Very light on the walnut and thinner overall in the way it displays itself. Some wet oak too.

Surprisingly not too tart! Might be 2010 they weren't sure, either way I enjoyed it, which is rare with aged raspberry lambic

4.25

Lambic Jaune (2020) G.

I might have drank a couple liters of that, it's not LVEB but I always enjoy it a lot, just a hint of walnut at the end, and that fresh 2020 version has some kind of candied grape/citrus note that reminds me almost of Racine for a second, so refreshing

Zwanze 2021 - Parasol G.

Had it twice over the week end: as a cocktail in a Spritz which I LOVED. Really does the job super well. And bottled which turns out to be way more balanced now, really enjoyed it, doesn't have that astringency it had earlier, especially on draft.

Nuit Bruxelloise (2019) G.

That new batch is great, a little more time and it should reach the level of the previous vintage. One of my all time favorites, it has all you can want from an intense grape lambic! Huge elderberry fruitiness & tannins, blackberry, tannic finish, pepper

Muscat Petits Grains G.

No rating as it seems to have developed acetaldehyde, strong granny Smith apple note all over covering most of the beer smell and tastes sadly. Still get that muscat typicity but it's in the back. Can happen, and it's actually very rare for Cantillon

Le Plaisir 2021 G.

Lovely new batch, I needed longer than most to really get into this beer, not a top 10 for me but I really enjoy it now. It has that orange wine juiciness but it displays differently than Racine or Sophia for instance, more honey notes + tarter lambic

4.5

Lambic d’Aunis (2021) G.

As good as 2019, that says a lot. The peppery character is really upfront which I love, and it still has a huge fruitiness to it. Grape concentration is a bit higher in this one and you can tell. Great tribute to Olivier Lemasson, may he rest in peace.

Drogone Lambic (2022) G.

Another fantastic batch, poured from a magnum this time. Strong but smooth tannins, tons of berries with elderberry upfront, dark cherries, tart cherries, bit of raspberry too. Oaky finish. Tue wine was still a little young but nonetheless very good

4.75

Chardonnay (2021) G.

Not 100% sure we weren't served the old vintage as it seems damn close to it, but again, loving this very much. Buttery Chardonnay upfront while leaving space for the base and accentuating the sesame notes, vinous finish, so delicious. One of my late favs

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2020) G.

It improved since bottling, very expressive this time, getting closer to a 2016 profile with loads of walnut oil but still with that Chateau Chalon finesse to it. Expressive but delicate. This beer will always be my GOAT, can only rank the vintages.

Nuit Bruxelloise (2019) G.

Very similar to 2015 at the same age, w/ the slight difference that the tannins are more red wine obvious and a little less black currant, but I bet this will soon take the same direction, age should give it a similar profile. So good, and will get better

La Vie Est Belge (2017) G.

Didn't even know this batch existed. World class as usual, though I'd place 16 and 19 over it. This one is lighter bodied and though it improves at first with more barrel as it opens up, too much air actually give it a thinner feeling. Still banger.
