CLAC! (Trois Cépages) (2019) Bowman
Grape lambic from Cantillon rarely disappoints, and this is no exception. Funk, vinous, well balanced, and quite delicious. 4.60

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2021) Bowman
Nice batch - lots of flavor, and actually tastier than the last Cantillon gueze I had. Perennially underrated imo.

Much different than the fantastic 2020 vintage. By different, I mean worse. Although this is a really nice beer, last year’s fruit bomb Fou is so good that comparatively speaking this is a bit of a disappointment.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
Another wet cork?! Still drinking really well, though.
Maybe a tad acetic but still a decent batch. Wouldn’t mind a little more carbonation.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
Had a couple cork issues from this batch previously, thankfully none here. Great bottle.

Somehow seems more enjoyable in this convenient 2l growler format.

Cantillo Cuvée Des Champions (2021) Bowman
Nice, but I prefer the standard CSG - better carbonation. Not too dissimilar anyway.

Herbal, medicinal, somewhat vinous, some bitterness in the finish. Not my favorite.

Grand Cru Bruocsella Brut (2016) Bowman
BXL 2021 bottle. Well aged old lambic. Different than Grand Cru Bruocsella as this has really nice fine, creamy carbonation. Oak, citrus, green apple, and pretty well balanced acidity. Really good.

Big brett nose. Medium-high acidity, but I think that’s more the rhubarb than the lambic. Fine carbonation, and quite dry. Maybe a bit less fruity than last year’s batch.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise 2021 Bowman
Excellent new batch. Seems fruitier and less bitter compared to previous bottlings. 3 Feb 21 bottle date.

Deleted previous check-in, as I had the wrong vintage. Thanks again, Rui G.!

Arguably my favourite of Cantillon’s seasonals. 14 Oct 20 bottling.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
Second bottle of the Cognac barrel 50N with cork issues, and this one seems maybe more acetic than my last. Gets better as it warms up, though.

Oude Geuze Boon Black Label Edition N°6 Bowman
Pretty tasty new batch. Funk, wood, citrus, apple, medium dry with pillowy carb. At less than €6, this is an incredible value.

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2021) Bowman
17 Feb 21 bottling. Much better than the last (2020) batches of Cantillon Gueuze I’ve had. Classic woody, funky, green apple and citrus flavours with fine carbonation.
Very little carbonation, hint of vinegar, oak, citrus, some funk, and quite dry. It’s a good beer, yet I don’t really find this any better compared to Cantillon's standard gueuze.

Disappointed. Not much fruit, and what there is tastes more like a raspberry syrup. Very little carb.

HORAL's Oude Geuze Mega Blend (2021) Bowman
Funk, oak, citrus, fairly high acidity, really bitter and dry. High carbonation requires care when opening the bottle.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2019) Bowman
Haven’t had this in awhile. Last bottle, sadly.

Cantillon recommends drinking Fou “within one year after buying”. So the wife and I are doing a 2019 vs 2020 tasting. We both agree the 2020 is better in every way - creamier, fruitier, less acidic, and just look at that color! 2020 on the left/2019 right

Slightly prefer the 2019 - had a richer flavor and more complexity. Nice to compare them back to back.

Still drinking well. The floral intensity perhaps has mellowed out a bit from the last time I had this.

Cantillon Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2017-2018) Bowman
Sure, it’s flat. Like always. But GCB has so much more flavor than Cantillon’s (young) geuze. Lots of oak, citrus, and quite bitter. I think if this were well carbonated it would be much more appreciated and higher rated. 24 Jan 21 bottle date.

Latest batch, 14 Oct 2020 bottle date. Fantastic creamy carbonation, light funk, oak, fruity, tart, floral and dry. Definitely more enjoyable than the St Lamvinus I drank earlier tonight.

Lots of juicy, jammy fruit in this batch. Vinous, fine carbonation, some balsamic notes, balanced acidity, light tannic dryness in the finish.

Last bottle. Rhubarb intensity and funk seem to have mellowed out quite a bit from what I recall. Glad to be drinking this now rather than cellaring it any longer.

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2017) Bowman
Hard to beat for less than €6. Light funk, oak, citrus, finely carbonated, dry. Let down only by a slight sweetness.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
More acetic and flatter carbonation than what I remember from my last couple of bottles. Maybe this bottle was a bit off, as the cork was wet under the cap. 🤔

I think this is getting better from what I recall since drinking my last bottle back in September. So damn good! Sorry James A., my Cantillon glassware is in the dishwasher.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2021) Bowman
Loads of juicy cherry, low funk, light carb, fairly mild acidity, dry. Definitely prefer these fresh bottles for their huge fruit intensity. 18 Jan 2021 bottle date.

Rosé de Gambrinus (2021) Bowman
If you’re not first, you’re last! Loads of jammy fruit, light funk, balanced acidity, with fine, creamy carbonation. 5 Jan 2021 bottling.

More than likely won’t find out what these will taste like after a long period of cellaring.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
I’ll save one of these for you Andy K., for next year sometime. Still have a few kicking around the cellar.

Funky, vinous, tannic, very dry. Christmas Eve treat for the Missus and I.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2020) (Cognac) Bowman
Cantillon #50. 🥳 Lambic brewed 2016, then four years in cognac barrels. 😳 Fine carbonation, slightly acetic, bitter finish. Cognac pairs really well with the lambic. Pretty fantastic stuff.

Beautiful funky nose, extremely vinous, somewhat herbal, slightly bitter. So delicious. 🤤

Vinous, oak, balanced acidity, nicely carbonated, dry. So damn good...

Happy Zwanze Day 2020! I’ve had the 2019 Camerise... this draft version seems to have more balsamic notes than I remember.

Pours hazy with a creamy mouthfeel, loads of fruit, funky, slightly bitter and dry. Tasty new batch! Bottled Aug 13th.

First time to have this in a bottle. Love the hint of vanilla over the raspberry and blueberry.

Last bottle in the bar! 🥳 Vinous, oaky, quite dry and sour. Love the Canti grape bottles.

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2019) Bowman
I had to get this for the second time... so much flavor and complexity, notes of honey, walnut, and extremely vinous.

Floral, citrus, very light funk, oak, lovely fine carbonation. Nice batch.

The rhubarb, acidity, and carbonation are on point. Nice dry finish. Doesn’t seem quite as funky as last year’s Nath from what I remember. Definitely one of my favorite Canti seasonals!
