Bottled 22 March 2021. It's always nice to taste a classic. C' est bon! ⬆️4.35

Opened up a bit acidic initially, but it got balanced after a while in the glass. Not much fruit left, but it was tart and drinkable.

Bottled 9 (or 6?, label was blurry) March 2016. I have tasted Iris a couple of times and it was fresh. This bottle is very different from what I remembered about this beer, but in a great way..Lots of funk, cheese and hops. Amazing foam for an 8yo beer!

First beer of 2024. Probably my favourite fruit lambic ever. Fantastic cheery aroma upfront. Amazingly Jammy mouthfeel with lots of funk. Cherries everywhere. Worldclass for sure. ⬆️4.85

The perfect apperitif between two Stouts. Another great vintage for sure. I definitely prefer Fou' Foune with some years on the bottle. Great!

Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio (2016) Ch
Bottled 17 May 2016. Lively carbonation after all these years. Taste is lemon, grass, citrus and some cheese. Very elegant and balanced, with a dry aftertaste and a hint of sweetness in the end. Amazing!

Definitely the best st lam that I've ever had. Amazing complexity in every sip. Merlot grapes are still dominant after all these years. Alongside with some cheesy notes in the aroma and hints in taste, followed by leather and funk. Mind blowing for sure!

Dry & vinous. Very delicate taste combining acidity and funk. Grapes are huge on this one. An excellent lambic ad usual. ⬆️4.65

LCI, during the Anastasiou Brewery x Blackout collab brew day. Vinous notes upfront, along with citrus and wood. Sourness balancing with hints of sweetness from the barrels. Delicate for sure.

Bottling date 20/11/2017. Well, this blew me away. I've had 2 bottles with same date in the last couple of years, cellared in the same way, and always found them too aciditic. Today's bottle though was fruity and mellow in comparison, with some port notes

Geuze Mariage Parfait (2012) Ch
During Mon Petit Cafe Athens Grand Opening. This has mellowed out a bit, but it was very pleasant to drink. Lots of sediment in the glass too.

Cellared horizontally at 12c since the online release. Apricots shined in the aroma. Nice carbonation and the trademark Cantillon tartness was there. A great vintage.

1st bottle of last year's trip to Brussels. Full of grapes, wine notes and oak. Amazing as usual.

Second time having B1. I was really curious about how it held up after these years. It opened with lots of vanilla in the aroma. We weren't expecting this for sure. Taste was well rounded with vanilla and raspberries. Just a bit more acidity than fresh.
Bottled February 2020. Opened after B1, and was a bit pale in comparison. Vanilla was there in the aroma, but not as vibrant as the aged B1. We were expecting the opposite. Taste was quite more acidic, and had something oily in texture overall.

A proper lambic should follow the two literally blessed stouts from Anchorage to end this tasting. Another excellent grape oriented lambic by Cantillon. Hay, lemon notes, with lots of white grape cherry skin and the trademark funk in the aftertaste. Great

During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki, courtesy of George. I have tasted a fresh 2017 bottle back then in the brewery and I found it overwhelming in rhubarb back then. This bottle and an aged 17 bottle ch recently, totally changed my mind.

Zwanze 2022 - Poivre de Gorilles Ch
During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. I'm not a huge fan of pepper and spices, but this was really interesting. The aroma was spicy and the pepper was pretty evident. It followed in taste but it was balanced with a herbal essence. Interesting.

During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. Red grapes, funky and tart. Pretty close to the bottle version. Red grapes, funky wooden tartness. ⬆️4.35

During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. Vanilla was evident in the aroma, but not in taste. I have tasted a fresh batch 1 bottle of this back when it was fresh and I was completely blown away by the vanilla back then. Kegged is mostly berries tho

During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. This was the best beer of the night. Vibrant berries, along with a unique dry aftertaste that sticks in the back of your tongue. I've had Camerise last year kegged, but this was better. Tried it 2 times.
During Zwanze Day at the Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. The most fresh Fou I've ever had untill now, less than a month kegged. Fresh apricots were dominant in the flavor, but lambic was almost completely hidden. As Jean suggests it needs around a year to open up

Bottled 07 October 2021. Great funky and vinous taste, with white grapes skin shinning in the aftertaste. Had the 2017 bottling a month ago, and I can say that Vigneronne ages great too. ⬆️4.35

Bottled 22 October 2017. Probably the best Vig I've had since now. The ageing did wonders on this one. It got a musty essence in the mouthfeel, making it stand up after Racine 2021. A really delicate character with the grapes and the vinous notes shine.

2nd time having this one after Zwanze. It was way better from what I've remembered since last September. The grapes were more prominent now, also the mouthfeel was better this time too. White wine notes in the aftertaste, with less dryness too ⬆️4.35

2nd time since the release. Raspberries had toned down a bit, but still was very good. Tart and funky with some acidity in the aftertaste.Very good but I definitely prefer fruited lambic fresh than aged.

Funky and fruity as expected. I prefer Fou Foune a bit more aged in the the bottle to show up a more rounded apricot skin taste, but generally you can't go wrong with any year of Fou. ⬆️4.35

Lambic Vin Jaune / La Vie Est Belge (2019) Ch
I've been chasing this whale since our previous trip in Brussels late March. Wasn't available last Friday either, but today we got lucky... And boy what a magnificent beer this was.. constantly changing in the glass. Amazing barrel, curry, funk. ⬆️4.85

This trip came to an end with my favourite fruit lambic ever. The fresh LPK is glorious, with cherry jam and barrel.

Grape forward, reminded me of Vig, with more carbonation than resent wine blends I've had from Cantillon. ⬆️4.65

Red wine forward, with moderate barrel presence. Tart but not acidic. Great.

Raspberries had faded in taste, but are present in the aroma. Some vinegar notes, along with lemon and funk. Good, but I prefer it when it's fresh. It gets more acidic as it ages.

Kriek 100% Lambic Bio (2016) Ch
Straight from the cellar, with the isual Cantillon character and funk. Some vinegar notes in the aroma upon opening up, but it settles after a while in the glass. Taste was cherry skin, with a hint of balanced acidity. ⬆️4.35

Red grapes with vinous notes. Medium to high acidity with nice funk.

Vinous with moderate acidity. White grapes are dominant, with the lambic character having a supporting role. Oak and some funk in the aftertaste. It reminded me of Sophia lambic overall. ⬆️ 4.35

I remember having this fresh at Cantillon in 2017 at the brewery, and it was the only bottle we couldn't finish that day. Excessively Rhubarb with that "cat-litter" essence that I didn't like. It aged amazingly, with rhubarb complementing the funk. ⬆️4.35

Kentucky Bourbon Stout (KBS) (2021) Ch
Bottled 22/02/21. A bit too roasted, with alcohol being present. Bitter chocolate and some coffee notes are there too, but not much Bourbon. Mouthfeel is a bit thin. I prefer the 2018 batch that I tasted on draft a week ago at The Local Pub.
Thin mouthfeel but ok for a porter base. Vanilla is strong, a bit of maple, but not much barrel notes there. Good, but expected more after KBS maple fudge cake which was great.

3rd time having this one. This time it was after CBS 2019 and Maple Mackinac Fudge. It had strong espresso coffee notes, but it was pretty one dimensional in comparison with MMF. 4.15
almost 4 years ago
Second time having this. It still is the best KBS variant. I remember the mouthfeel to be a bit more thick when it was fresh, now it's medium to full. I also got some orange chocolate cookie notes this time. Maple cookie chocolate. Better than CBS19⬆️4.35

Rhubarb's not my thing, but I Iiked this more than fresh 2017 and 2018 some years ago. Time made it more subtle and closer to a regular geuze, so I enjoyed it. Thanks to Spiros for sharing it.

Medium mouthfeel which I expected more, medium sweet.Cacao and vanilla were there, along with some bourbon. Some caramel too. No wood, but a very interesting stout overall.

Very fresh and refreshing. Apricot is more present in flavor than 2019's fresh batch, but this beer usually shines after a year of aging in the bottle. 4.35

Grand Cru Bruocsella Lambic Bio (2015-2016) Ch
Lemon , citrus and brett notes.Light mouthfeel. Better than the first bottle that I had some years ago and had some off flavors like cardbox, but still I prefer the regular gueuze over it any day.

2nd time having this, solo this time. Huge espresso notes in this one. Didn't remember it being so coffee intense the first time we had it. Espresso bitterness is really strong, followed with bitter chocolate, roast and a just a hint of bourbon. 4.35.

Coffee is smooth, along with chocolate and some oaky notes. Bourbon is kind of hidden though.

Tropical fruits and grapefruit notes with some with some citrus too. Hoppy aroma and aftertaste. It has some dryness in the aftertaste, but it's really drinkable. The alcohol is hidden. Balanced overall.

Thanks and cheers to Michael from Mon Petit Cafe Stuttgart and Fotis from the Local Pub Greece for bringing me a sampler of this.I liked it way more than 2019. Amazing color. Aroma and taste is full of beetroot indeed.A strange fruit to add, but it worked
