A special beer to celebrate Jeremy's arrival in Galapagos. This beer has evolved over the years to become a heavy black brew loaded with mysterious flavors.

To John's retirement. He's saved this for his retirement, just like dad suggested back when he gifted John a couple of these. Thanks dad!

Need to take the chill off to get to proper drinking temperature. Perfect beer for a cold afternoon with 6" of snow on the ground.

Aging like a champ. Full bodied, rich and smooth as hell. Chocolate, cherry and smokey notes to it. Would be great with a cigar. Maybe next time.

Last one. Greatness. Why did they stop making this beer? One of the best.

That still has a ton of the original character. Dry, bitter, astringent. Cocoa and coffee on the front. Little bit of cherry and raisins.

Muther fucken Chris! This 6 year old in the back of the fridge is incredible best umami huna DarkLordish beer I've had in a long time.

The smoothness on this is impressive. Possibly slightly muted, but dangerously drinkable.

Bottled 20/12/2016. It's amazing how this beer has developed. Big roasty umami bomb. Great texture and mouthfeel. Lingers long on the palate

Maybe a bit past prime, but still awesome. Starting to develop some nice molasses and raisin character.

Bottled 20/12/2016. Last cellared bottle! Quality dense head. Intense dark berry umamis. Blueberry, blackberry, raspberry depth. Less coffee now, just deconstructed flavours. Burnt malt and bitterness throughout.

Almost 6 years later... wow. Nightcap in full effect! Thanks Jake K.

A great find on the happy hour list tonight. The dark chocolate and coffee notes are still vibrant after six years.

Held up really well. One of my faves from Founders. FLN

(2d ago) CBCC-in-absentia, Day Five - Pelican Edition. Also celebrating a finished 1F 1/2 bath. Knocked a tad off; the fourth year aging was probably just a bit too much. But the complexity, smoothness, and richness are the envy of the imp stout set.

Not as delicious as it once was. While still very good, alas, time has not been as kind to this beer as it has other beers in my cellar. A lot of the rich, malty, roasty, velvety, chocolate & stone fruit have faded. Still, it’s quite delicious.

Tastes way better than I remembered. Chocolate is more pronounced. Way smoother aswell. Minimal roastiness on the finish.

One day away from being 59 months, bottled 11/24/15. Might be oldest beer in the fridge, held up very well, super rich and chewy. Nutty.

Black, thick motor oil-like pour. Bubbly, dark brown head. Nose of roasted malt, dark chocolate. Tastes like brownie batter, black licorice. Slight ash on the finish.

Happy day 3 of Beersmas. I can’t find a year on this so estimating. Big smell when poured and still big taste. Aged well. Big, chewy, dark stout, no head. Nice night cap.

I had 3 of these. Not sure why I sat on them because they are delicious!

2016’s are really tasty right now! Super fudgy and the roasted bitterness has died off quite a bit. It’s a completely different beer at 4+ years old in a good way for me at least. Thanks for the bottle Steve B.
