50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2012)

Lambic - Gueuze

In March 2005, the brewery Cantillon had bought second hand barrels in the region of Cognac. For 15 years, the wood had been impregnate with cognac. Then for 2 years, our lambic has extracted all the flavors and aromas to make a unique gueuze. The name comes from the geographic location of the brewery.

Not bad by any means but nothing like batch 1. Original owner, only moved from original cellar 1 week prior to opening. This was quite subdued, not a lot of cognac and not a lot of anything else going on.

Morning tasting with Chris 😋👌 One of the best 50N I've had, loads of barrel & wood, cognac/apple and pretty dry, subtle & complex, that ages beautifully 🥰👍

Still classy and elegant like wearing a suit when invited to a wedding. Even some saltiness, even if the body has been dried up a bit and complexity has faded. Not vibrant as I remember. 4.30

Crazy hay/barnyard and cognac nose. Very dry lambic funk. One of the best 50N bottles I’ve tasted. Leaps and bounds above the one I had at Grote Dorst a while back.

Still the GOAT of cognac for me, over B1. Getting even smoother with time, still with that creamy quality to it, stunning.

Unchanged rating. I very much enjoyed this batch. Time has done great things to it, and it's still bright, but mellow.

Wouah! Monstrueux...

Needs 20+ min to open up. Ultra smooth Cognac, a touch of sweetness, very light carb/slick mouthfeel, light to medium body. Nice funky oak presence. As good as this is right now, I think this has even more aging potential.

Less funk and more barrel than I expected. Sweet notes from the barrel with a nice body, although slightly less carb than I’d like.
