A lot more interesting bottle than the 2009. Cork top was completely black and it took some effort to clean the bottle before pouring. Can feel the funk blending with the grapes more interestingly. Tangy and musty. Exquisite.

Menu Pineau (2009) M

Very bright and lively. Dank and musty nose. Definitely my preference among these two grape varietals. Throat coated with funk. Delicious!

Pinot D’Aunis (2009) M

Acidic and tartness overwhelms. Leaves very little for other character to develop. Musty and round however on the finish.

Menu Pinea (2020) M

Much brighter and more acidic. Juicy and vivacious. Lambic still complimenting nicely, but this needs at least a year or two more to rest.

Menu Pineau (2019) M

Possibly one of the very best grapes that lambic can be blended with. Simultaneously dry and juicy. A precursor to our 09 bottle.

Bourgogne Lambic M

Ketchup nose. Unfortunately vinegary, citrusy. Grapes are gone. Not a good bottle.

Chouke (2018) M

Iris Grand Cru Cuvée Kuaska M

Complex and earthy nose. Super hoppy, bitter round lambic vibes. This will be outstanding in some years. It has definitely improved I’m sure since bottling in 2015. Funk starting to intensify.

Cognac Lambic (2003) M

Sour, but deep rich and woody. Mild dust and oxidation. Quite wonderful actually

LH12 M

Probably the best bottle I’ve ever had. Much more dense and thick nose. Exceedingly more complex on the palate. Quite bold. I actually gasped after my first sip 😅. Medium lambic qualities and mildly oxidized. Excellent!

Cognac Lambic 2005 M

More of a straight lambic character which is also quite nice. No carb. Deep, woody sour and complex. Only minor hay/horse-pick your characteristic. Overall easy drinking and showing no signs of stopping. Should be even better in a decade if it exists.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2007) M

A gentle sour cognac nose. Dusty and bold mouthfeel. More sour to the taste, less barrel, but still holding up well and great.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2012) M

Crazy hay/barnyard and cognac nose. Very dry lambic funk. One of the best 50N bottles I’ve tasted. Leaps and bounds above the one I had at Grote Dorst a while back.

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (2015) M

Zero nose upon repeated sniffs. Very salty, minimal funk. Only mildly expressive. Not my fave.

Light honey, berry and cheesy nose. Pretty overwhelming and much more bitter berry taste. Not off-putting though. Quite cheesy on the taste as well, like a Greek white cheese which is fitting for our location.

Cloudberry Lambic M

Juicy and fruity. Quite dry and bitter. Not quite as expressive as the SdM b1, but quite decent.

Tyrnilambic Baie d'Argousier (2017) M

A Little off-putting, but less so than it is fresh. Might mesh more with the lambic with some age. Not really my jam.

Quite an interesting experience with clay. Tastes pure, but also aging a little on the acidic side. I was in the minority of fans of this beer unfortunately

Aaand we have a loser. I don’t know what was done to this beer to make it so sour, but do yourself a favor and save your time and money. Or even better do like us and use it for some nice salad dressing.

Goldackerl Gueuze M

Whoa. For the first time blown away today by the deep woody funk combined with a dank musty grape. I almost feel the earth from which the grape grew. So complex and still showing signs of vibrance. No doubt benefited from extra conditioning. Outstanding!

Chardonnay (2014) M

Perhaps peaking? The lambic seems to be balancing quite well at this moment. Very bright acidity and some funk. Juicy and clean.

Le Plaisir (2020) M

Very interesting and complex. So many grapes in this blend that the taste itself is a bit mystifying. Overall quite nice and crisp.

Le Plaisir 2021 M

Actually quite preferring the newer blend it’s somehow more dry and musty. Super complex and zero ketchup on the nose. All rolling open vineyards, hay and funk. Slight ripe pears 🍐 at the end.

Very juicy and light. Super smooth and musty.

Vin De Paille (2020) M

Dank and dry. Grape flesh. Complex and light almond characteristics. Beautiful blend.

Chenin Blanc M

A bit sweet and crispy. Seems also quite young. Sharp.

Very nicely blended. Easy sipper

Zwanze 2017 - Cuvée Bijette M

The oolong is really shining through and blending with the funk now. Quite exceptional. I think it will only grow in complexity from now.

Sophia Lambic (2018) M

Dry amphora and mild funk. Needs more time to develop in my opinion. Still quite nice.

Sophia Lambic (2019) M

A little less rounded. Tart and light. Still amphory. Could crush all day.

Vinsanto 2020 M

Quite enjoyable in the lineup, however a bit more immature as it’s age dictates. Should develop nicely over some years.

Vin Santo 2019 M

This time I can appreciate how the 18 is superior. I get a little ketchup in the nose, but still have the grape explosion. According to Eric these weren’t stored properly prior to Arrogant Sour, so that would explain the bottle variation.

Vin Santo 2018 M

Dry, pungent and thick musty grapes. Aftertaste leaves a breath of vinousness. Lambic blend choice is also stellar with funk continuing to escape. One of my favorites of the day.

Cuveé Neuf Nations de Bruxelles M

Musty and oxidized. Unfortunately somewhat cardboardy for me. Hints of Vigneronne are present, however they take a back seat to the 34 years of age this guy has already lived through. Interesting enough for the tick.

Guy De Wits “Fruitkorf” Lambiek (1992) M

Plenty of complexity on the nose. Definitely can feel the fruit basket vibes, funk and berries. Tastes of currants that linger. Lambic is completely still. Actually quite superb and rounded with a plum aftertaste. Musty and delicious.

Spuyten Duyvil M

Nice light funky nose. Intense and beautiful cranberries. Maceration and lambic seem perfect with this bottle showing little age. Thankfully the cork was clean as well. Superb!!!

Brabantiæ (2019) M

Still wonderful. Amazing port, lambic and funk characteristics.

Saint Lamvinus Merlot Barrel (2002) M

Probably the smoothest of the bunch, rounded and mellow. But somehow the grapes have been sacrificed a bit in the favor of funk. 95 wins out of this lot.

Way off. Not really even fair to rate. Super acidic and vinegary. Nice for a tick but nothing more

I think we got lucky with a nice bottle. The funk and flesh mesh to make a very juicy and and tart funky bottle. Exquisite. I wish our 94 bottle was better to compare and contrast, but alas we can’t have everything.

The bottle variation on these must be all over the place. Unfortunately not nearly as great as the Quintessence bottle pour I got. A bit too vinegary/acidic, but the OG Lam is there in the background.

Divin Lambic M

Slightly corked, but the intensity is still there. Perhaps the storage conditions or bottling affected this guy a little. But inception!

Grenache Noir 2021 M

Bright and juicy. Full of young vigorous life that is still in its infancy.

Reed Gueuze Pinot Noir M

Seems a little over the hill, and a shadow of its former self with medium oxidation. Unfortunately the oxidation overwhelms what is nice funky grapey character. It’s living in the background though. Quite a pleasant sipper.

Reed Gueuze Muscat M

Intense cheesy must. Love the dense complexity and bright citrusy notes. Mild loony funk character. A bit divisive amongst our crew, but quite enjoyable IMO.
