Wow, the pepper from the zwanze is all over it. That much, that it even overpowers the elderflower. Tbh, not a big fan
over 2 years ago
Meh, lacking the grape depth. It might be bc it’s on draft. Complaining at a high level here of course
over 2 years ago
Lemony, citrus peel. Hoping is very much there. Malty body indeed. I like it fresh, but I’ll put my bottle away for years bc I know what kind of magic time does to this
over 2 years ago
Another great vintage. Prayers go out it will still be on the board tomorrow🙏
over 2 years ago
A lot of depth in a lemony, orange peel way. Balanced tho. Slight funk. This needs time, but it’s already incredible imo.

Toer de geuze, here we go. Stating off with the benchmark

I understand why they took 4 years before releasing this bottle. Carbonation is crazy high on it. Lovely dry white grape sweetness🤤

Zwanze 2017 - Cuvée Bijette Helmold
Wow, I’m impressed. This works out so well. The tea adds a nice savory note, green and herbal. The lambic base is dusty and citrusy.

This is fantastic. White grape play along the lambic so well in this. Dry but sweet at once. Juicy grapes
over 2 years ago
The depth of grapes in this one🤯 silky smooth, light elegant carbonation. Waves of flavor keep hitting u

Meh, kinda watery. Strawberry, grape skin. But it disappears real quick in your mouth

On draft, a little light on the apricot. Will have to see how it is out of the bottle

Last batch😓 Grapefruit, peppery notes, light and well rounded. Banger

Lambic Grenache Blanc (2021) Helmold
Not as good on draft. Less impactful on the grape character, crushable tho

This is so intense in every level. Nose is tickling from the high density of grape. Natural grape sweetness in the taste. Yet, very different from the earlier batches. B2 still my fav
almost 3 years ago
Deep forest berry, with those honey vibes. Even has a mineraliness which u could associate with blood.
Almost flat, definitely wine dominated blend. Maybe the lambic needs more time to take over. Enjoyable but not my favorite

Damn, lovely Chardonnay all over. Bedded into a pillowy lambic base. Fantastic

Fantastic wine lambic fusion. Deep red grapes, tannins, oak.

A lot of dust and cellar. More grape in the nose than in the taste. Still incredible tho!

Rosé de Gambrinus (2012) Helmold
Holy cow. Still plenty of raspberry left, but with layers and layers of old cellar funk

50°N-4°E (Batch 6 - 2020) Helmold
There’s a huge cognac note all over this baby. Fantastic!
Elderflower gives it a kinda herbal note. Straight cantillon funk, which is impressive at this young state

Bottles 3 months ago. Never had cantillon geuze this fresh. Definitely needs few more months to find into itself. Very unbalanced and a lack of carb

Oude Geuze Boon (2018-2019) Helmold

50 Degrees N - 4 Degrees E (Armagnac) (2017) Helmold
Incredible nose: Wet wood, Armagnac gives it a certain sweetness. Taste is super complex, a certain nuttiness like walnuts, oak dryness, Armagnac all over. 🔥

Oude Geuze Boon (2017-2018) Helmold
Didn’t develop much from last time I’ve had it. Enjoyable
over 3 years ago
Weird consistency, almost like glue. Nose is very vinous with some glue. Taste is very interesting and complex. Not my favorite Cantillon but very interesting to try.
From the last time I’ve had it the grapes and the lambic found together more. The lambic is actually more present. That musty dusty cellar starts to show
over 3 years ago
Fantastic stuff. Grape tannins, almost a grapefruit like tartness, smooth, a little oak as it warmed up more
